On October 2, 2026, artists, musicians, writers, conservationists, and community members will gather in Bozeman, Montana, for an extraordinary evening celebrating one of the most remarkable forests in North America.
Hosted by The Montana Project, Climate Aid / Black Ram Guitar Festival will bring together acclaimed performers including Ruth Moody of The Wailin' Jennys, former U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón, Corwin Clairmont, Martha Scanlan, Pico Alt, Rob Quist, Jack Gladstone, Siri Sæteren, and many others for a night dedicated to the protection of Montana's old-growth forests and the creation of a Climate Refuge in northwest Montana.
Off the Grid Studios is honored to be part of the event with a special screening of our documentary, Songs of the Ancient Forest.
The film tells the story of the Black Ram forest in Montana's Yaak Valley and the unlikely journey of a 315-year-old spruce tree that fell during a windstorm after centuries of standing watch over one of the most biologically rich landscapes in the Northern Rockies. Rather than becoming waste, the tree was transformed into a one-of-a-kind Breedlove guitar through the vision of The Montana Project and Breedlove Guitars' "All In This Together" campaign.
But this is not a story about a guitar.
It is a story about a forest.
A story about what is lost when old growth disappears. A story about art, music, literature, and conservation coming together in service of something larger than any one person or organization.
Narrated by Jeff Bridges and featuring the voices of acclaimed writers, artists, musicians, and conservation leaders, Songs of the Ancient Forest explores the connection between creativity and stewardship while asking a simple question:
What responsibility do we have to the places that inspire us?
The October gathering in Bozeman represents the next chapter in that story.
Through music, poetry, storytelling, and film, Climate Aid / Black Ram Guitar Festival will celebrate the landscapes that continue to shape Montana's identity while helping raise awareness and support for efforts to protect some of the state's most important remaining old-growth forests.
For Off the Grid Studios, this project has always been about more than documenting a place.
It has been about documenting a community of people who care deeply enough to act.
We hope you'll join us in Bozeman as we celebrate the forest, the artists, the music, and the growing movement behind the Black Ram story.
Because some places are worth fighting for.
And some stories deserve to be told.
